Meet the officers of JVMS who lead our society and uphold our mission of advancing veterinary medicine in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia

Our officers are dedicated to guiding JVMS’s initiatives, fostering professional growth, and ensuring the society’s long-term success. Explore their roles and responsibilities below:

President

Dr. Taylor McLendon 

Mandarin Equine Veterinary Solutions


Dr. Taylor McLendon, a Jacksonville native, developed a passion for equine care through years of riding and competing in western performance events. She earned her veterinary degree from the University of Florida, graduating as Salutatorian in 2019 while serving as class president and leading multiple organizations.

Specializing in equine lameness and sports medicine, Dr. McLendon trained under Dr. Peggy Fuller before purchasing the practice in 2022. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to equine athletes in the Saint Augustine and Jacksonville areas.

Beyond her career, Dr. McLendon enjoys time on the water, trips to Walt Disney World, and marathon running. Most importantly, she treasures moments with her husband and two children. Her expertise, leadership, and commitment make her a trusted figure in equine sports medicine, positively impacting the horses and clients she serves.

President Elect

Dr. Michelle Clements

Dr. Michelle Johnson, a Neptune Beach native, has loved animals since childhood. She earned her bachelor’s from Florida State and attended vet school at Ross University in St. Kitts. Her diverse veterinary career has taken her across the U.S. and the Virgin Islands before returning to Jacksonville. She has worked in clinics, house call practices, and now fulfills her dream of running a surgical center for high-need animals. In 2023, she and her husband Jeremy founded Seaglass Spay Neuter. They enjoy life with their two daughters and multitude of animals.

Treasurer

Dr. Meridith Swartz
Swartz Vet Imaging

Dr. Meredith Swart, a Jacksonville native, is a three-time graduate of the University of Florida.
She earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2001, followed by a Master’s in Public
Health and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. With 14 years of experience as a small
animal veterinarian, she has worked in general practice, emergency medicine, and currently as
a mobile ultrasonographer. Dr. Swart's passion for advanced diagnostics, particularly
ultrasound, led her to receive formal training through Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging in
Texas, completing both the Small Animal Abdominal and Cardiac Imaging Certificate Programs.
In 2020, she founded Swart Veterinary Imaging to provide in-clinic mobile ultrasound to
Northeast Florida veterinarians. Dr. Swart is also dedicated to her community, serving in various
leadership roles with the Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society. Since 2021, Dr. Swart has
served as President-Elect, then President, and now Treasurer. Outside of work, she enjoys
spending time with her family and volunteering.


Secretary

Dr. Ainsley Bone

Ainsley Bone, DVM, MBA is a dedicated veterinarian, industry leader, and advocate for
professional growth within the veterinary community. With over a decade of experience in
emergency medicine, urgent care, and veterinary communications, she combines clinical
expertise with business leadership to support the evolving needs of veterinary professionals.
Dr. Bone earned her DVM from Washington State University and an MBA from the University of
Florida. As Director of Veterinary Communications at Nestlé Purina, she led strategic initiatives
to enhance veterinary education and industry partnerships. She is the founder of Quantum Vetz
LLC, providing relief services to veterinary practices in the Jacksonville community and
coaching veterinarians navigating life transitions to elevate their careers and personal fulfillment.
Now serving as Secretary of the Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society, she is committed to
mentorship, innovation, and advancing the profession through education and collaboration.
Beyond veterinary medicine, Dr. Bone enjoys yoga, art, and exploring creativity. She and her
husband, Cort, are raising their two young children, Max and Ellie, alongside their spirited
border terrier, Butters.


Chairman of the Board

Dr. Katie Green

Dr. Katie Green, DVM, is a dedicated veterinarian passionate about animal care and community service. She earned her bachelor’s in Animal Science from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. During her clinical year at UF 

Dr. Green began her career at the Jacksonville Humane Society before opening Intracoastal West Veterinary Hospital. She now serves as Chairman of the Board for the Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society, furthering her mission to improve veterinary care in her community.
